The Fish Cave

Diving in Havana or any region of western Cuba is very beautiful. However, each club has its preferences in diving and particularities of each area. For Cuba Blue Diving, one of the cenotes that we love the most is The Fish Cave.

Small but imposing 62 meter deep cenote, the deepest in Cuba, located 18 kilometers from Playa Larga, in the Bay of Pigs, in the Ciénaga de Zapata municipality, Matanzas province, on the southern coast of Cuba.

It is a hole with water, surrounded by vegetation, which forms a natural pool of crystalline and still waters, almost dreamlike. In it, a variety of fish are appreciated, but of such depth that its center becomes surprisingly dark and does not reveal what its bottoms hide.

But just down there is an underwater tunnel that connects the lagoon with the sea, in which an underwater life of spectacular beauty unfolds. Counting on an incredible plurality of colorful tropical fish and corals. The background is decorated by nature with striking stalactites.

All this wonder can be admired by diving with the help from a professional, otherwise it is not advisable to do so.

Surroundings and tour

In front of this beautiful cenote there is an adorable beach, which is actually part of the Bay of Pigs. This beach is ideal for snorkeling and diving, in which nature delights visitors with the richness of fish seen from the surface.

The trip to get to this magic corner of the Ciénaga de Zapata, It is long, it is best to dedicate all day. First, the journey is two to three hours, plus two hours minimum, of diving. But it is undoubtedly a unique and unforgettable experience that is worth living.
